IDLES Stood and the room went silent

Joe Talbot of IDLES at the Fonda, LA by Jacob Alvarez
sold out shoW featured fontaines dc
One of the best shows of the year by far. Fontaines D.C. opening set the mood for what was to be an energetic night of music and togetherness. The singer moved in such a way that reminded me of Ian Curtis, walking around, hesitating, and staring piercingly into the crowd. Once Idles came on, it was over. The crowd smelt of sweat and love. Frontman, Joe brought his A-game, connecting with a crowd far from home, to which he acknowledged a handful of times. He credited the audience with love and support that he also said should be used for the betterment of society, specifically pointing out the horrid abortion laws coming to play in Alabama. He said something along the lines of, “here’s to freedom of body rights and all the abortions that it brings.” Blazing through songs off their hit album Joy As An Act of Resistance, Joe and the gang really showed a sold out crowd in LA just how comfortable they are in their own bodies in their own world with their music. It was a lovely sight, and I’ll be back to see them every time they come through here.
