When I first saw this movie, I was blown away because it was so similar to Superbad yet it was refreshing. The film is often relatable and while being a guy watching a story about two women who are best friends trying to understand the mechanics of livelihood. And I don’t need to say, Booksmart IS SO FUCKING HILARIOUS. That karaoke scene gets me every time. Superb. Learning that both Kaitlyn and Beanie actually lived together after they got offered the gig, you can see why they had such great chemistry. This was the first time they were the leads of a film, and my god do they play it off so naturally. Olivia Wilde outdid herself as well, as the cast shared they were so comfortable and at home when making the film. I aspire to be that way when I become a director. As Olivia stated at the Q+A, the movie is on Hulu so if you have yet to see it, do it already. Also thanks Arclight for the bus stop-sized poster!
