The YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California welcomed a sold out crowd to witness the return of influential indie-pop vets Two Door Cinema Club. The band’s previous tour stop in LA was at this year’s Just Like Heaven festival, a comeback of sorts after a canceled tour years prior due to injury within the trio. Needless to say, the craving for their hits was at an all time high.
TikTok personality turned musician Petey opened the show with a half jokingly half abrasive tone, very contrasting to the likes of Two Door Cinema Club. Nonetheless, fans were yelling right back, shouting “I love you Petey!”
A little after 9PM, the theater went dark, as the band took the stage in minimal fashion, not waving or saying hi to the audience. The drum intro to “This Is the Life” began to lightly play before everyone took to their instruments and the whole thing crescendoed into the show properly. Fans were immediately on their feet, hopping to the music as hits “I Can Talk” and “Sleep Alone,” followed. The 22-song set consisted of mainly hits from the trio’s debut album Tourist History, their followup Beacon, and a few tracks sprinkled in from 2022’s Keep On Smiling.
Singer Alex Trimble strutted the stage in a tan suit, keeping the small talk to a minimum and focusing on the music. The LED screen behind the group featured an array of pastel colors and flowers, matching the unique look of the band. In lieu of a traditional encore, Two Door Cinema Club thanked the audience for sticking with them throughout the years, sharing that they’ve recorded three of their records in Topanga, California, making LA feel like home. This got the fans clamoring for the final song, “What You Know,” the band’s biggest track off their debut from 2010. The band continue their US tour through early October. Check out the set list here!
