Pixies Celebrate Indie Legacy in Chicago

SECOND CHICAGO GIG SOLD OUT WITH MODEST MOUSE + CAT POWER

For two nights underneath the blue August supermoon, legendary Boston outfit, Pixies, returned to Chicago to play the recently unveiled Goose Island venue, the Salt Shed. Despite 2022 technically being the venue’s inaugural year for shows held in the outdoor fairgrounds area that Pixies piloted, the indoor room has only been active as of February 2023.

Positioned next to a river with the downtown Chicago skyline flickering in the near distance, the night was enjoyed by attendees galore and a few additional boats that were able to anchor down within earshot directly outside of the venue to the left of the stage. Pulling primarily from 1989 classic, Doolittle, the quartet unleashed a 24-track jaunt through the band’s towering 8 LP catalog, forming a sonic mosaic of their 37-year legacy.
