BAND CONCLUDED TOUR WITH SOLD OUT LA PERFORMANCE

Hailing from London, alternative rock band Ulrika Spacek finished a towering US co-headlining tour with Texas’ own Holy Wave at Lodge Room in Los Angeles on the first day of November. Shyly crooning as they began, the 5-piece bloomed as their extraterrestrial soundscapes rippled like a blanket over the room. Instead of erupting into a wall of noise, the band gracefully crawled through their discography and built towards cascading anticipation, opening with tracks from the ever-iconic The Album Paranoia despite primarily drawing from their latest release, Compact Trauma. With glittering bulbs that flicker with the kick drum, the performance was nothing short of electric.

Compact Trauma marks the band’s first album in over 5 years and was led by the single “The Sheer Drop,” which has recently been translated into an additional release “The Tier Drop,” which acts as an alternative listen to “The Sheer Drop” as the band describes, “[“The Tier Drop”] is a reworked instrumental of the album’s opening track, completely comprised of stems from the original recording,” they wrote in the release’s announcement post. Additionally, “The Tier Drop” was delivered with a second track, “Death on EVS,” which the band says “very much stands alone,” explaining that it was recorded during the writing for Compact Trauma and recorded in New York City as the band’s last US tour concluded. Though the band doesn’t currently have any upcoming dates listed, here’s to hoping it’s not another 5 years before their next masterpiece LP. Check out the setlist here!
