SOLD OUT SHOW IN OC FEATURED SPECIAL GUESTS

Expanding on his recent performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk, rapper and food aficionado Action Bronson played to a sold out Observatory crowd in Orange County. Kicking off his 11 date trek across the US, Bronson played about an hour set backed by his live band.

Similar to his Tiny Desk set, songs included “Dmtri,” and “White Bronco,” with Bronson seemingly forgetting a few lyrics. He found himself concentrating on the band however, often shutting his eyes and letting the music overcome him. “There’s nothing better than making music with your friends,” he said with a big smile as the audience cheered. Early on, he ditched his sweater for an Kareem Lakers jersey which fans were also delighted to see. As it goes with Bronson live shows, the energy is high (literally) but gracious. Certain bars and lyrics were highlighted with heavy emphasis, such as “…she don’t even know The Simpsons yet” off “Bonzai.”

Action Bronson often went off-stage after performing a track or two, but toward the middle of the show, he came back with two guests: acclaimed producer The Alchemist and Ecuadorian UFC fighter Marlon “Chito” Vera. “Future champion” Bronson described Vera as he sat onstage while Bronson and The Alchemist performed the latter’s produced “Terry” off 2015’s Mr. Wonderful. He concluded his set with a small encore that welcomed him to his audience who were holding vinyls and wearing “F*ck That’s Delicious” tees. Fan favorite “Baby Blue” was the period on the night, where fans rushed the merch booth to purchase tour posters featuring GI Joe’s very own “Serpentor.” Although scheduled for a 90 minute set and ending with more of a 70 minute show, Bronson’s charisma, quips, and undeniable appreciation for the music he creates and now the music his band plays to elevate his lyrics, are what keep the fans sufficed. His growth in right in your face, and if his flexing and performance weren’t proof enough, I provide you with this.

Bronson continues his tour into late October, including a stop at the historic Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles opening for Incubus!
