Thundercat at the Wiltern, LA by Jacob Alvarez and edited by Savanah Alvarez

La show had appearances from steve lacy, Mac Demarco, and brad pitt!

Hands down, one of the best fucking shows I have ever been to!!!!! To start off, thank you Mick for giving me this opportunity. It is people like you who keep this dream of mine alive and allows me to do what I do. Thank you very much. This was the shit! I got to my spot and shot the first three songs. It seems as though Thundercat was a little nervous as this show was sold out, yet he is playing the Hollywood Bowl a few months from now. Nevertheless, he was right to be nervous as many special guests were in attendance. After I took my photos, I stepped into the pit towards the right. As I was enjoying the show, I take a look to my right and notice that I’ve basically been dancing with Steve Lacy. A few people away from him stood none other than Solange and Syd of the Internet. Behind them, Hannibal and Flying Lotus chilled, nodding their heads to the grooves. A little while later, Ariana Grande pulls up and greets Syd with a hug. No clue why. As Thundercat exits the stage, I turn around and notice the VIP area where BRAD FUCKING PITT is sitting. If I climbed over the rail, I would have given him a hug, or at least could have. He was sitting, enjoying his night with “friend” Alia Shawkat which is maybe why he was there in the first place. Whatever the case may be, it was still cool to see the Oscar winner in attendance at a Thundercat show. Behind Brad stood Beck and Anderson Paak, both speaking in and out to Pitt as well as Mac DeMarco. Thundercat came back on stage to perform one of his newest singles, “Black Qualls” with help from Lacy and Flylo. The crowd was there as well as the celebrity guests who all flooded the dressing room as the show ended. This is not a night I will forget, as I noticed all these people were just people. Ariana had a pimple on her face that was visible from where I stood and it reminded me that we are all human. I felt like I belonged to this group just by association cause I grew up with a lot of their music, so to see them slowly get more and more popular was like watching kids grow up and progress with life (even though they are all older than me). Not sure if that makes any sense but it felt lovely.
