Protomartyr Presented 'The Devil in his Youth'

The Detroit punk outfit applied their signature vivid songwriting to the Regent in Los Angeles Wednesday night. It was their last stop of the co-headlining tour with Preoccupations, however during their set, they proved why they were the last to go on. As the music went on, the audience could feel the darkness due to the distribution of vocals by lead singer Joe Casey. Each song carried weight into the sea of people which filled the venue. Casey’s baritone vocals executed perfect performances of the set list, accompanied by great musicianship from the band as a whole. This band blends decades together, thus shining in an ocean of dime a dozen punk acts. To acknowledge Protomartyr as special would be an understatement and if you disagree, see them the next time they tour.
